Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC)

The Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) at UNC Health Rockingham provides a forum for the local voices to be heard as it relates to healthcare for Eden and the greater community served. Primarily, this advisory council allows for patients and family views and expectations to be shared and discussed openly with hospital leadership, employees and board members.
Membership
The Council consists of volunteer members of the community who have been patients or family members of patients, and who are willing to provide their perspective on the patient experience at UNC Health Rockingham. Council members are asked to serve for a minimum term of two years. The coordination of the Council is supported by the Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Operating Officer.
Council Roles and Responsibilities
The PFAC meets on a quarterly basis, and as needed, to gather patient/family input on various topics. Meetings include members of the council, hospital staff, medical staff and representation from the Board and Senior Leadership.
Members of the PFAC are asked to:
- Aid in guiding medical service planning for UNC Health Rockingham
- Guide service and quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient satisfaction, improve staff morale, and meet system deliverables.
- Help with identifying barriers and needs
- Develop service recommendations for hospital leadership
- Provide a communication forum that represents community stakeholders and patients
- Monitor and assess the community’s perception of service and quality provided at UNC Health Rockingham
- Ensure the needs of the community are met with a more efficient and effective system of care
- Assist in planning and evaluating services and programs
- Serve as goodwill ambassadors for UNC Health Rockingham to advocate for the mutual benefit of the hospital and the community
