UNC Health Rockingham Welcomes Jones and Galvan to Hospital Board of Directors
The UNC Health Rockingham Board of Directors recently welcomed Trina Jones, PhD, and Lupo Galvan as new members. The board also welcomes Will Flynt as chair and John Dabbs, DC, as vice chair.
Dr. Jones is an educator and employment specialist with Health for Her. She brings more than 15 years of experience in education, workforce development and community service, including work in adult education, student services, data management, program administration and community collaboration.
Through her work, Jones helps individuals overcome barriers to education and employment by connecting them with career opportunities, training resources and supportive services. Her experience across higher education, public education, nonprofit and workforce development settings brings an important perspective to the board’s work in supporting the health and well-being of the community.
Galvan is the co-owner of CGS Environmental Services, a Stoneville, North Carolina waste management company helping provide community members with options for large waste disposal. He is also a former licensed practical nurse at Morehead Memorial Hospital, now UNC Health Rockingham, giving him a personal connection to the hospital’s history and its continued role in caring for the community.
Jones and Galvan each bring a strong commitment to Rockingham County and a desire to support local access to high-quality care. Their professional backgrounds in education, workforce development, healthcare and small business will help inform the board’s ongoing work as UNC Health Rockingham continues serving patients and families across the region.
“The board is pleased to welcome Dr. Jones and Mr. Galvan to UNC Health Rockingham,” said Will Flynt, chair of the UNC Health Rockingham Board of Directors. “Their commitment to this community, understanding of local needs and varied professional experiences make them valuable additions to the board.”
By serving on the UNC Health Rockingham Board of Directors, Jones and Galvan will help support the hospital’s mission of preserving excellent, compassionate and trusted care close to home.
Will Flynt, a certified residential real estate appraiser with Davis Appraisal, has been named chair of the board, succeeding outgoing chair Jeff Parris, who is completing his term. Flynt previously served as vice chair and brings a strong commitment to community service and leadership. He is an active member of the Eden Rotary Club and the Eden Chamber of Commerce and serves on the UNC Health Rockingham Foundation Board. Known for his dedication to the community, Flynt is passionate about supporting local initiatives and organizations that enhance the quality of life for residents.
Dr. John Dabbs, owner of Eden Chiropractic, has been elected vice chair. A native of Eden, Dabbs has deep roots in the community and a strong appreciation for its small-town values. He earned his undergraduate degree from East Carolina University and his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Life University in Marietta, Georgia. Since opening his practice in Eden in 1996, Dabbs has been dedicated to improving the health and well-being of local residents. In addition to his chiropractic credentials, he is certified as a sports physician, emergency medical technician (EMT), and nutritionist.
Together, they will help guide the board’s work in support of UNC Health Rockingham, its teammates and the patients and families it serves.
