UNC Health Rockingham is proud to welcome board-certified family medicine physician J. Bailey Sanford, MD, MDiv, MEd, to UNC Family Medicine at Eden.

“Dr. Sanford’s addition to UNC Family Medicine at Eden strengthens the practice’s commitment to providing comprehensive, compassionate care for patients and families in the Rockingham County community,” said Steve Eblin, President and CEO of UNC Health Rockingham.

Passionate about serving rural communities, Dr. Sanford pursued medicine to help close healthcare gaps in underserved areas. “It is my privilege as a family physician to walk alongside my patients throughout life—providing care from infants to older adults,” he said. “I take great joy in caring for patients across settings—whether in the clinic, at home, in the emergency department, hospital or nursing facility.”

Dr. Sanford earned his medical degree from the UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine in 2022 and completed his residency in family medicine at Cone Health, focusing on inpatient, outpatient, and obstetric care. He also holds a Master of Divinity from Duke University (2019) and a Master of Education from the University of South Carolina (2016).
