UNC Health Rockingham is pleased to welcome Lorenzo Spencer, MD, MS, a board-certified family medicine physician, to UNC Family Medicine at Eden, expanding access to comprehensive primary care services for families across Rockingham County. ?

Dr. Spencer joins the practice following the completion of a Fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at the Department of Family Medicine and UNC Hospitals in June 2025. He earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 2021 and completed his family medicine residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2024.

Inspired by his childhood pediatrician’s ability to connect and communicate with patients, Dr. Spencer brings a passion for building strong physician-patient relationships and empowering individuals to take charge of their health.

“I am eager to serve as a family medicine physician who can care for patients with chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and chronic lung disease,” said Dr. Spencer. “I also look forward to working with local middle and high school students, combining my passion for sports medicine with the opportunity to be a role model.”

Dr. Spencer’s dual expertise in family medicine and sports medicine, along with his commitment to mentoring youth, will strengthen UNC Family Medicine at Eden’s ability to deliver compassionate, community-centered care.
