UNC Health Rockingham is pleased to announce the addition of board-certified cardiologist Dr. S. Peter Sheng, MD, MPH to UNC Cardiology at Eden, further strengthening access to high-quality heart care for residents of Eden and
the greater Rockingham County area.
“Dr. Sheng’s arrival marks an exciting step forward in our efforts to expand access to expert cardiovascular care in Rockingham County,” said Steve Eblin, President and CEO of UNC Health Rockingham. “His impressive credentials and passion for preventive medicine will help us better serve our community and improve heart health outcomes for years to come.”
Dr. Sheng brings a deep commitment to patient education and preventive care, aligning with UNC Cardiology at Eden’s mission to provide compassionate, comprehensive cardiovascular services—close to home.
“I hope to make a meaningful impact in people’s lives,” said Dr. Sheng. “Cardiology drew me in because of the widespread nature of heart disease and the exciting advancements in diagnosis and treatment. My goal is to help patients understand their risk and take proactive steps to prevent cardiovascular events.”
In addition to caring for patients locally, Dr. Sheng will serve as an assistant professor of medicine at the UNC School of Medicine, contributing to the education of future physicians.
Dr. Sheng joins UNC Cardiology at Eden from Stony Brook University Hospital, where he completed a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases. He earned his medical degree from the UNC School of Medicine and a Master of Public Health from the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health in 2019. His residency was completed at NYU Langone Health/Bellevue Hospital in 2022. Dr. Sheng holds board certifications from:

- The Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology
- The American Board of Clinical Lipidology
