Compassion Health Care, Inc. (CHC) is excited to announce a new collaboration with UNC Physicians Network, LLC, bringing much-needed specialty care services to Caswell County. Beginning December 18, 2024, the Specialty Clinic at Caswell Family Medical Center, located at 439 US Hwy 158 W, Yanceyville, NC, will offer general surgery outpatient consultations to the community, improving access to healthcare.
As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), CHC is committed to serving medically underserved populations. This collaboration will significantly enhance the availability and quality of care in the area. The new General Surgery Specialty Clinic will be staffed by physicians and medical providers from UNC Physicians Network, whose expertise will address healthcare gaps in Caswell County.
“This relationship represents an exciting step forward in our mission to bring high-quality healthcare services to our community,” said William Crumpton, CEO of Compassion Health Care, Inc. “We are proud to team up with UNC Physicians Network to offer specialty consultations in a convenient and accessible location, ensuring that our residents do not have to travel far for specialized medical care.”
UNCPN President and CEO Lynne Fiscus echoes Crumpton’s assessment of the relationship. “This collaboration is in clear alignment with UNC Health’s mission to serve the people of North Carolina,” she notes. “It’s proximity to UNC Health Rockingham will enable patients to receive high-quality surgical care close to home.”
The General Surgery Specialty Clinic will include a provider office, three exam rooms, and a check-in/check-out window for patient registration. Patients will be able to access general surgery consultations with Dr. Reginald Lamont Cathey and Dr. Megan Straughan from UNC Health’s Surgical Specialists of Eden clinic, on a part-time basis, with services expected to significantly improve local health outcomes. As board certified surgeons, Drs. Cathey and Straughan are highly rated by patients for their knowledge, expertise and compassionate care – with each earning 4.8 stars in patient feedback surveys.
The clinic will begin offering services on Monday, Dec. 2, 2024, with Dr. Straughan seeing patients onsite beginning Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024. Residents of Caswell County and surrounding areas are encouraged to schedule appointments for general surgery consultations and take advantage of this new, locally available care.
