UNC Health Rockingham proudly announces the completion of its Safe Space Courtyard, a transformative outdoor space designed to support the mental and emotional well-being of long-term behavioral health patients. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held to commemorate the opening of the courtyard, which marks a significant milestone in the hospital’s commitment to compassionate, innovative care.

UNC Health Rockingham is pleased to announce the addition of board-certified cardiologist Dr. S. Peter Sheng, MD, MPH to UNC Cardiology at Eden, further strengthening access to high-quality heart care for residents of Eden and the greater Rockingham County area.

UNC Health is the first healthcare institution in the nation to launch an Obstetrics and Gynecology Fellowship dedicated to rural women’s health. The new UNC School of Medicine program’s intent is not only to train physicians to provide high-quality care in rural settings but also to make it easier for women who live in North Carolina’s “maternity care deserts” to access the medical care they desperately need.

The UNC Health Rockingham Foundation Board of Directors welcomes two local leaders for an initial three-year term of service: Jessica “Jessie” Boothe and Allyson “Nicky” Edwards. The board is comprised of business leaders and entrepreneurs, community advocates and health professionals focused on meeting the philanthropic needs of UNC Health Rockingham, its patients and care teams.

UNC Health Rockingham is proud to welcome board-certified family medicine physician J. Bailey Sanford, MD, MDiv, MEd, to UNC Family Medicine at Eden.

Breanna Evans, a health unit coordinator at UNC Rockingham Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, was honored with the BEE award for Extraordinary Patient Care. She was nominated by a coworker for her willingness to always go above and beyond when it comes to her patients.
